MBA Orientation Program by Deepak Justin ( DJ)- 30 July-
The students of MBA Batch (2017-2019) started their orientation with Mr Deepak Justin, a renowned Corporate Trainer on 30July 2017. This orientation program gave students a fantastic opportunity to know what to expect in coming years and also to equipped them for the same. A 5 Day Orientation Program included various student engagement and team building activities starting from Introduction, Ice Breaker session, Public Speaking, leadership, New Product Launch and CSR initiative.
Industrial Visit to Wipro ( 1 August 2017)
Under this visit, MBA/ PGDM students learnt about corporate culture, professionalism and program that new recruits undergo to have a comfortable transition into the new corporate world at Wipro. Wipro contributes to various CSR activities like – Waste paper is taken, recycled and distributed to underprivileged students and much more.
After the session students took a campus tour and saw the Butterfly garden and infrastructure. It is said to be the greenest corporate campus in Bengaluru.
CASE STUDY WORKSHOP (5th and 12th August 2017)
A case study workshop by Mr. P K Thomas, Faculty Entrepreneurship and Strategy Area and a Serial Entrepreneur, was organised for students of MBA that emphasized on importance of case studies in the learning process as one of the most effective teaching tool. It involved interactive discussion, and critical thinking in groups which helped students to learn to work in groups and also to think rationally.
RESEARCH & INNOVATION WORKSHOP (5th & 6th August 2017)
ISBR Business School had conducted two days’ workshop called “International workshop on Research and Innovation” on 5th & 6th of August 2017 in ISBR Auditorium.
The Workshop was inaugurated by an eminent Scientist, Dr. TK Anuradha, Project Director, ISRO Bangalore. The dignitaries on the Dias were Dr. Ananth Rao (Dean, Dubai business school), Dr. Padma Srinivasan (Research Head, Acharya College Bengaluru Business school), Dr. Avneet Saxena (Functional Consultant, Analyst, TCS Bangalore) and Dr. K.S.Gupta ( Director, Centre for Executive Education, ISBR).
Session 1 was an introduction to Research by Dr. Ananth Rao, Dean, UoD ( University of Dubai) followed by sessions of Dr. Pavan Soni and Dr. K S Gupta.
Visit To Decathlon ( 5th August 2017)
The students of ISBR Business School, PGDM batch 2017-2019 got a splendid opportunity of visiting Decathlon Logistics Warehouse on 5th August 2017.
From this visit to the warehouse of Decathlon students understood how such a huge system can be managed so efficiently with so little use of technology as at Decathlon, the use of modern technology is very minimal. They also showed studetns how the products they receive back due to customer complaints are simply destroyed rather than repairing it and selling it again which is a very genuine and impressive practice carried on by them. The working environment at Decathlon taught them that it is essential to believe in team work rather than simply relying on technology in order to accomplish goals.
VISIT TO AKSHAY PATRA ( 5 August 2017)
Visit to Akshay Patra was the second industrial visit for students of MBA. They learnt how the kitchen of Akshaya Patra produces 9500 meals in five hours every single day. The smooth and well organised way of functioning of this unit was marked by conventional working process. Students also learnt about the logistics aspect of supplying food on time to all government school locations.
Creativity and Innovation Workshop (8th August 2017)
A creativity and innovation workshop was organised for students of PGDM, Batch (2017-2019) by Dr Pavan Soni, established Entrepreneur on 25th July 2017 at ISBR campus as a part of orientation programme. With the economic climate changing rapidly and companies looking at their people as their best and strongest asset- to help them survive and thrive, the workshop focused on identifying the hidden creative strengths of the students and understanding and utilising the process creativity.
Ms Excel Workshop (8 August)
Dr. Karpagam, Dean Academics introduced MBA students to the basic concepts of Ms Excel. She also discussed the importance and relevance of the knowledge of Ms Excel in today’s corporate world by sighting examples of practical application of Ms Excel in sales while preparing sales reports and accounts.
Parichay- Lead Yourself Workshop ( 9 August 2017)
PARICHAY: “Lead Yourself” is a signature program exclusively delivered for the fresher’s as a part of the ORIENTATION program. It is an eight hours program which started off with the ice breakers and expectation settings of the audience. The workshop focused on the importance of understanding “Self” and the power of intra – personal communication and inters- personal communication.
The objective of the workshop was to acclimatize the newbies with the importance of soft skills in the contemporary times and create an awareness of the impending challenges in today’s world. The methodology opted was lecture, case analysis, video reviews and role playing.
The wrap up of the program was based on interventions chosen from behavioural science. The session was a power packed energizer delivered by Preeja Sreedhar, Corporate Trainer and Faculty in the area of Communication and HR.
VISIT TO ART OF LIVING (10 August 2017)
A visit to Art of Living Ashram was organised for the students of MBA. The visit was a great opportunity to learn how effectively and efficiently a place so massive and huge can run so smoothly. It is also home to India’s mega kitchen as it feeds thousands of people each day. The learning also covered the technological aspect as the students witnessed water recycling and bio gas plants. Strategies for resource management were emphasized by these plants.
VISIT TO VINDHYA E INFOMEDIA (23 August 2017)
A visit to one of the most popular BPO of Bangalore, Vindhya E Info media was organised for the students of MBA. The BPO works with a vision of bringing business and philanthropy together. It employs more than 1400 employees with most of its production staff physically challenged, hearing impaired, autistic and socially disadvantaged women. The visit taught the students that nobody’s capabilities should be judged based on their physical appearance. It also taught students brilliant and unique management skills and motivated them to be more and more passionate about whatever they chose to do in life.
VISIT TO MONKEY BOX (12th August 2017)
A visit to Monkey Box, an online food service provider for students, was organised for the PGDM students. Monkey Box proved to be a great example for students to learn team management and business ethics as the team leaves no stone unturned to deliver their customers with hygienic and superior quality service.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION (15 August 2017)
70th Independence Day of India was celebrated at ISBR campus with great enthusiasm and zeal. The entire campus presented a festive look with creative decoration, various kinds of flowers and tricolour ribbons. The celebrations involved flag hoisting and motivational speech by the chief guest Prof. Arun Swaminathan. The students further presented various performances that depicted the unity in diversity of the country. The patriotic songs and the highly spirited skit represented the value of unity which touched the hearts of the audience.
TEAM MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP (19 August 2017)
A team management workshop was organised for MBA students of ISBR putting an emphasis on importance of working as a team. The MBA batch was mentored by Professor Shiva Prakash for this workshop. The mentor assigned the groups with various activities which involved decision making, delegation, leadership, communication and problem solving skills as individual as well as team. The activities brushed the knowledge and skills of students about current affairs and trending market scenarios and promoted out of box thinking among the students.
ASMA AWARDS (19 August 2017 )
ISBR is elated to have received the ‘Best social media Integration’ award by ASMA (Adoption of Social Media in Academia), a first of its kind social media award initiative in the field of academia. The award seeks to celebrate and honour the institutes with best social media integration strategies and ISBR was one of the institutes to be honoured with this award.
RADIO MIRCHI EVENT ( 24 August 2017)
India’s leading radio FM station, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, hit ISBR B School’s Campus for a promotional event for ACT Fibernet with an interesting contest. Radio Mirchi in association with Act Fibernet provided students a worthy platform to showcase their true talent. The students mesmerised everyone with their outstanding talents in the field of singing and dancing. The students, as well as the faculty, completely enjoyed the performances and the program ended with the distribution of interesting goodies to the participants.
ASSOCHAM -Parents of Innovation Awards (27th August)
On 27th august, 2017 at FKCCI building ASSOCHAM conducted Parent of Innovation Awards for Best School in Karnataka in association with research associate ISBR B School, Bangalore. Parent of Innovation Awards recognizes schools on national level for the best practices implemented towards growth and development of their students. What makes this award special is that it recognizes both private and government schools.
A group of students from ISBR had volunteered in the event and had a chance to work with Center Stage event members. It gave them the opportunity to learn- how and what goes to conduct a large-scale event.
Introduction to Cells & Clubs
On academic front besides the studies students were introduced to Cells & Clubs. Formation of 8 Cells and Clubs namely Marketing Club, HR Club, Finance Club, Entrepreneurship Club, Writers & Media Club, CSR Club, Sports Club and Cultural Club was initiated by Prof. Alka Jain, Clubs Coordinator. Each club is headed by a Faculty- Club Coordinator. Clubs are formed to involve, engage and explore the potential of students to facilitate their wholesome development.
Mentorship Program
Mentorship Program, an in- house program of ISBR to enhance the competencies of students was started on 17 August 2017 with the introduction of Mentors and mentees in their respective groups. 8 Mentorship groups were formed. Groups started working on their first challenge- Movie Review which is scheduled on 9th September 2017.
