Learning is a lesson that will follow its owner everywhere.
Almost all the management students devote a major part of their time to their studies and their course and get very less or no time to do anything else like watching a movie. Still there are a number of movies that management students must see. Each one of these movies can teach you something useful and productive like finance, ethics, marketing, team management, whistle blowing, and communication skills as all of these qualities are major components of managerial studies.
On 21 September 2017, ISBR conducted a movie review challenge for the 1st year PGDM & MBA students as a part of their Mentorship Challenge to let them showcase their flair in conceptualizing management concepts and theories by the means of entertainment such as movies.
The movies which were shortlisted for the challenge were Airlift, The Wolf of Wall Street, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Drishyam, The Founder, Ghazi Attack, Kung Fu Panda, and Coach Carter.
Students from each mentorship group then started reviewing the movie and came up with the lessons learned it. Some shared entrepreneurial lessons, some shared business ethics, while some spoke about the art of negotiation, teamwork, the attitude to never give up and how to learn from our failures. The judge’s final verdict was out and the movie, The Founder, was declared the best movie to be reviewed. Ghazi Attack was declared the first runner up and Kung Fu Panda the second runner up. The overall event proved to be very productive for the students as it aimed towards their personal and soon to be professional lives.
