Atmanirbhar Bharat which translates to ‘self-reliant India’, is a phrase used and popularized by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the Government of India in relation to the economic vision and economic development in the country. In this context, the term is used as an umbrella concept with regard to making India a larger and more involved part of the world economy, pursuing policies that are efficient, competitive and resilient, that encourage equity, and being self-sustaining and self-generating.
We had an interesting session based on AtmaNirbhar Bharat, our guest speaker was Dr. Shrilakshmi Desiraju.
The workshop began with an overview of entrepreneurship, including the four-ring concept of entrepreneurship (security, human resources, finance, and leadership), as well as the role of technology and commercialization on the area. She underlined the necessity of being Atmanirbhar – self-sufficient – and provided more examples of how Atmanirbhar is linked to entrepreneurship during the workshop. She then discussed about how to start a new enterprise by offering her personal experience i.e., to identify the problem statement, finding the market pain. She also emphasized the value of having a strong team.
The seminar also emphasized the need of having a unique selling proposition (USP), which can help a business prosper in the market, as well as the secret to sustaining a competitive advantage. The most significant part of the session was that she described the whole concept of becoming a self-reliant entrepreneur or individual through her own professional experience and journey. She emphasized the importance of incorporating technology into one’s business enterprise and the steps necessary to commercialize it. The most important aspect of any new enterprise is generating finances, and she provided some suggestions on how to do that (Debt, VC, PE, Angel- Funding and IPOs). She went on to talk about MSMEs and the Make in America Initiative later on.
This session was one of the most interesting sessions where students came forward with their doubts and make it more interactive. We believe in imbibing all kind of knowledge in our students’ and so, doing the best to make it possible.
