Speaker‘s Biographical Sketch: Mr. Anoop started his career as a Contact Center Associate at First Source Solutions in July 2008. He got promoted to the role of a senior associate and moved on to be a quality analyst. He later joined Cognizant Technology Solutions as a process specialist in 2013 and got promoted to a management role as team leader. He has also worked with companies like PayPal and Legato Technologies in managerial roles. He has managed teams of different skill sets, which include technology support, customer support, and risk management teams. He has also served on the recruitment panel, which selects candidates through an interview process. Currently, Mr. Anoop is working as a client services manager at Akamai Technologies. In addition to his 14 years of experience, he is also a certified PMP (Project Management Professional) and is also certified in situational leadership by the Ken Blanchard Academy. He has also been awarded Best Team Leader for three consecutive quarters in 2019 and has also been awarded Best Manager multiple times.
Abstract
In this talk, Mr. Anoop addresses the concept of corporate etiquette. It refers to how an individual should behave while at work. Each one needs to maintain the decorum of the organization. It consists of a set of rules an individual must follow while at work. It conveys how an individual must behave sensibly and appropriately at the workplace to create an everlasting impression.
Essentially, it focuses on manners for the corporation and for its individual players. It has to do with the way an individual interacts with customers and other businesses. When etiquette is observed, the corporation has the opportunity to present a seamless, mannered front to the rest of the world, which can increase the respect the world gives it, resulting in a potentially more profitable corporation.
Flow of the Event:
The event started with a brief introduction and welcoming of the guest speaker. It then proceeded with the speaker introducing the students to the concept and importance of etiquette in work life. The basic necessary activities which an individual must perform during the job selection and its preparation were conveyed in an effective way. Powerful tips on how to build a good resume as then given. The speaker then talked about the basic etiquette one must follow during an interview process. He then spoke about the importance of following work ethics in office and also about what and how to do it. Finally he followed up with the questions from the audience and helped them clarify their doubts. The event came to a conclusion with the delivery of the vote of thanks.
Learnings from the Event:
Initially the speaker introduced the importance of etiquette in the business environment. Later the audience got to know the best ways for drafting a resume. They received insights on what exactly to include in the resume and what not to include and also insights on the relevancy of content to be filled in the resume according to the job requirement. Later the audience was conveyed with the Do’s and Don’ts with regards to attending online and offline interviews and how to give an effective self-introduction. In the next part, the audience learnt about the various behavioral aspects with regards to individual grooming, interpersonal relationships, conflict management, stress management, and most importantly, the art of saying ‘No’. They were also made aware of the various “danger zones” of a work environment and the ways to avoid/overcome the problems arising in their daily work lives. Overall the session conveyed the
importance of an individual’s behavior in an organization and how it will affect his performance and lifestyle. It enlightened the audience on how to represent and uphold themselves in their company, maintaining a good impression and healthy relationships amongst their bosses and peers.
