Empowering Innovators: Insights from the ATAL FDP on Entrepreneurship and Startup Ecosystems

From November 11th to 16th, 2024, the ISBR Business School in Bengaluru hosted an insightful week-long Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Entrepreneurship and Startup Ecosystems, sponsored by AICTE’s ATAL Academy. The program, meticulously coordinated by ISBR, brought together 46 participants, including faculty and postgraduate students from 13 colleges, for an immersive exploration into the entrepreneurial world.

Program Insights and Key Moments

  • Day 1 kicked off with a focus on the entrepreneurial ecosystem in India, led by Mr. Kishor Jagirdar. The day also included a session on design thinking by Dr. Pavan Soni, followed by a practical workshop to enhance student engagement through library services.
  • Day 2 – explored the entrepreneurial journey from idea to execution with Mr. Vijeta Shastri and financial planning strategies by Mr. Chaithanya Gowda. Workshops emphasized idea evaluation and market viability.
  • Day 3 centered on customer validation, inclusive design, and business plan development. Dr. Veena Shenoy and Dr. Richa Bhalla provided actionable insights, culminating in a hands-on workshop on crafting elevator pitches.
  • Day 4 highlighted intellectual property considerations with Dr. Shrilakshmi Desiraju and the human element in leadership by Mr. Akash Chander. Participants refined their venture pitches through interactive workshops.
  • Day 5 included an industrial visit to the Atal Incubation Centre and a session on fundraising basics by Dr. Anantha Prasad, offering a practical understanding of incubation ecosystems.
  • Day 6 concluded with a guide to business setup by Mr. Pawan Pagaria, focusing on regulatory compliances and building a solid foundation for startups.

Interactive workshops, including tasks like design thinking for library services and elevator pitch crafting, provided participants with practical tools for real-world challenges. The visit to the Atal Incubation Centre offered firsthand insights into supporting innovation through incubation resources.
