In a bid to address the growing concerns related to cyber safety among school-going children, a mega awareness campaign was organized across 44 government schools in Gubbi village, Tumakuru district, Karnataka by ISBR Business School in collaboration with LetsTagOn Foundation and India Literacy Project, aimed to educate over 7500 students in Grades 8, 9, and 10 about the safe and responsible use of the internet.
In the wake of the pandemic, the distribution of digital devices to students became essential for continued learning. However, with this access came the responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of our children in the digital world. Our initiative, supported by DIET Tumukuru under the District Educational Transformation Program, aimed to address this crucial issue.
The awareness campaign spanned three days, focusing on interactive, activity-based sessions to engage students actively. Topics covered included digital etiquette, and social engineering threats such as phishing, malware, ransomware, spam emails, and spyware. Practical measures such as password protection, browser security, mobile security, and safety tips were also emphasized. Additionally, the sessions guided the detection and monitoring of suspicious activities and offered insights on handling cyber-attacks if one becomes a victim.
Dr. Manish Kothari, President of ISBR Group of Institutions, shares, “We at ISBR give a lot of importance to sensitizing students on various social issues continually. Our students in the past have designed and implemented mega social projects such as road safety awareness campaigns, refurbishing a government school, and food distribution. I am very glad to take up another very relevant issue this year and create awareness among children on the importance of cyber safety. I am sure this move will go a long way in creating awareness among our students, children and their families. I wish all the best to our students and also partners of this initiative.”
“Cyber safety is not just a technological concern; it’s a crucial life skill in the digital age. This initiative is a testament to ISBR’s commitment to equipping the younger generation with the knowledge and tools to navigate the online world safely,” said, Dr. Anand Agrawal, Executive Director at ISBR Business School
The success of the initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of student volunteers from ISBR Business School, LetsTagOn Foundation, and the support of the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET Tumukuru) under their flagship initiative, the District Educational Transformation Program (DETP). India Literacy Project also played a crucial role in extending its support to raise awareness of the ill effects of digital devices on children’s well-being.
At ISBR Business School, we believe in empowering the younger generation with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely. By instilling the importance of cyber safety in the minds of students, the initiative has taken a significant step towards creating a safer and more responsible digital future for the younger generation. Let’s continue to create a safer and more secure online environment for everyone.
