Vivek. Currently serving as QHSE Manager for The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Bangalore Ergonomics, being a section of “fitting the job to person” plays a crucial role in every sector irrespective of the type of industry. There is little doubt that there are many benefits of ergonomics and they are the basis of creating an efficient work environment. Ergonomics can be utilized to decrease injury and boost physical efficiency. Research shows that successful implementation requires continuous commitment and genuine participation from all employees. It can be done
properly by educating people on when and how to implement it. The session focused on musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), their causes, and control measures to be implemented in order to prevent it from occurring at
the workplace. Ergonomics is important because when we are doing a job and our body is stressed by an awkward posture, extreme temperature, or repeated movement our musculoskeletal system is affected. The body may begin to have symptoms such as fatigue, discomfort, and pain, which can be the first signs of a musculoskeletal disorder.
