Industrial Visit to Schneider Electric

As part of the Mentorship program, the students of the second semester PGDM and MBA – Team Kryptonites and Team Crew In Action were taken to the company of their choice on 10th May, 2016.

The group visited Schneider Electric, a unit that assembles Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), PLC panels, PCB Boards, Energy meters and Relays. They were taken to the shop floor and explained the assembly process, quality control methods ,supply chain details, quantity produced per month, turnaround time for every order, the numeric and bio-metric security systems, technology used, inventory management system,  strict rules followed for the production process and safety measures. What impressed the students was the open culture of inviting one idea per person per year with incentive and reward system, irrespective of their educational background.

Students were also impressed with the way the organization functioned, the hierarchy followed to meet targets and the discipline.

The HR executive gave the students details on the various functions of HR in the company and how HR was involved in strategizing the sales. She also explained students the scope of Management students in the company, skills and aptitude required and the hiring process. The Finance executive gave details about the financial modeling, cost plus markup, R&D, catering to the B2B segment, their competitors and challenges faced and their market share in the domestic and International Market.

There was no dearth of questions from the students.

It was a great learning experience for the students.
