ISBR College celebrates Institution’s Innovation Day on 15th October
to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former
President of India. The day is celebrated nationwide to promote innovation
and entrepreneurial thinking among students.
The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative by the Ministry of Education,
Government of India, aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in higher
education institutions. It fosters a culture of creativity and collaboration through workshops,
hackathons, and startup events, encouraging students and faculty to develop innovative
solutions and engage with industry stakeholders. The IIC ultimately seeks to empower young
innovators and enhance the entrepreneurial ecosystem in academia.
The session offered a deep dive into his life, highlighting his contributions to science,
leadership, and nation-building. Participants reflected on his most iconic quotes,
which resonated with themes of vision, integrity, and resilience. Most note worth

Innovation is born out of Cultural Excellence
Followed by this was a video of Dr. Kalam’s speech that inspired the students
present, underscoring his influence as a mentor to millions. The event concluded
with an engaging activity on Design Thinking where students went through the
process of ideation to Design to Prototype of a Mobile Phone Pouch through a
simulated market scenario with the team comprising of Innovators and Customers. In
all more than 10 teams pitched their ideas to their mentor- Professor of Practice-
Shiva Prakash (promoter of Think Tank imc).
Students could learn the skills of New Product Development as an entrepreneur by
thorough understanding the market needs and tailoring innovative products through
the concept of empathy.
The key takeaways of the session was applying ideas to contemporary challenges,
fostering discussion on leadership and innovation through a culture of creative
excellence.
