ISBR Business School, one of the top business schools in India, was set up under the aegis of the Bangalore Education Trust (established in 1990). At ISBR, the vision goes beyond the aspiration to become a global leader in management education and research. It aims to prepare the student for life—ingrain in them the psyche of a leader, ready to learn for life.
ISBR is a proud recipient of the “Best Industry-Linked Management Institute,” in 2021 and has been rated a “Platinum Institute” for 5 years in a row (2016-2020) by the AICTE-CII Survey. This places ISBR among the top 3% of management colleges in India.
Culture of Collaboration: The Win-Win ISBR Model
Following ISBR’s principle of “Real World, Real Learning,” ISBR displays a missionary zeal in nurturing students at every step of their careers. The internship being the first step they take in the real world and leading with men and resources to solve real-world issues.
The Department of Placements at ISBR Business School operates on a win-win model. Through Skill Capital (Internship Fair) and Talent Connect (Placement Drive), ISBR sets up platforms for students and the industry to explore and fulfil mutual aspirations.
The ISBR Skill Capital: 21st Century Skill Sets & Alignment with Industry
Over the past several years, ISBR has strengthened the concept of Skill Capital by thinking through a few vital questions—instead of seeking job vacancies, how to create industry-relevant skills within students with varied career aspirations; how to ensure that reputed companies are ready to tap into these skilled and budding leaders.
The Pandemic Impact
The Covid-19 Pandemic transformed the traditional notion of placements and internships. The ISBR community took the challenges head on and channelised them into newer opportunities. With strong expertise in digital technologies, the batch was given an individual “Live Project” directly linked to industry needs. Students came out triumphant and ready to lead in the daunting VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world of the post-pandemic world.
2019-2021: The Game Changer
This period could be considered a watershed in the placement history of ISBR. Keeping aside the routine reactive approach to the industry JDs, a far more pro-active approach was initiated in order to shape the students into highly sought-after leaders in the industry.
Students are encouraged by faculty and Alumni to undertake skills training right from the 1st Trimester on Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension, etc. From 2021, students took over the skill-building process with boundless enthusiasm.
The ISBR faculty, across domains, both trained and evaluated the students on crucial skill sets deemed crucial to lead in the 21st century—awareness, adaptability, critical thinking, self-confidence, and application of mind, among others.
The student body anchored the sessions undertaken by multiple stakeholders—corporate experts, alumni, faculty, and Peer-to-Peer to ensure high student participation. The peer-to-peer interaction emerged as a clear winner.
This not only strengthened the domain expertise but also shaped the inner behavioural being of the student personality—punctuality, communication skills, dress code, presentation, and professional attitude, among several other qualities.
The skill-building process is a round-the-clock activity beginning with the preparation of the list of skills extracted from the JDs sent out by the Placement team, to in-person training given by multiple stakeholders.
“Skill Capital” training: The ISBR success story
Six weeks before the start of internships, the entire exercise of skill enhancement was accomplished by the ISBR Placement team. The 85-90% success rate in placements has reinforced the processes into a reliable system. The ISBR student body drives these internal processes with dynamism and courage, skills that help them be the leader they wish to be.
With this rigorous process in place, the pressure on all the stakeholders—students, faculty, and parents—has reduced. This is testimony to the immense hard work of the Placements Team in aligning itself with industry requirements and maintaining the standards set by reputed organizations.
ISBR Placement for the Class of ’23
The Placement Team is happy to announce that it has successfully completed the final placement process for the PGDM Class of ’23, with students getting placed in more than 100 + companies across multiple sectors like IT/ITES, BFSI, FMCG, Consulting, Research & Analytics, Logistics, Staffing & E-commerce. The PGDM Class of ‘23 bagged stellar roles, clocking the highest CTC of 13.58 LPA.
We take immense pride in seeing our students lead in near and far away geographies. In the words of our student, Itika Sethi (PGDM Class of 2021): “The Pandemic was a roller coaster ride but even through the roughest time, our college ensured that they gave us the best of academic and placement assistance.”
