Report of Guest Lecture on: Role of Learning and Development for Talent Creation and Retention Date: 05th April 2021

Learning and Development are an essential function of Human Resources, as it contributes towards the growing and nurturing of the employees of an organisation. With the dynamic change in the domain of Human Resources over the years, it has clearly been evident that this aspect has evolved to be one of the important factors in talent creation and retention.

To explore this, Dr. Savitri Jayant (HOD of Human Resource Department), organised a guest lecture on the “Role of Learning and Development for Talent Creation and Retention”, which was conducted by Ms. Harshita Chaudhary, who is the Global Talent and OD Lead & HR leader at Freshworks Technologies, Chennai.

The session started with a welcome note by Dr. Savitri followed by a brief introduction of the guest by Ms. Harmanjeet Kaur.

Ms. Harshita started the session by giving an understanding of what Learning and Development is and explained the three essentials of any talent within an organisation, viz, The Talent Trio- Attract, Retain, Develop. She elaborated on these points to make us understand, what it takes to nurture the talent of an organisation. Next, she elaborated on how L&D is an enhancer, by explaining the critical touch points in an employee lifecycle, viz, the four pillars- Onboarding, Performance Management, Potential Development, Career Development.
