Report of session on ‘Entrepreneurship’

Event Overview
The Asian Institute of Family Managed Business (AIFMB) and Bangalore’s International School of Business & Research (ISBR) collaborated to host an online session on “Entrepreneurship” on May 2. The speaker for this session was Ms. Mansi Thakkar, director of Windplus Pvt Ltd, leadership coach, and podcaster. The event was coordinated by Dr. Supriya Lamba Sahdev, a member of the Innovation Council of the LIMA (Lamba Institute of Management & Applied Research) and the INBA (Indian National Bar Association). Mr. Shashwat Shukla, the students’ event manager, served as the host.

Introduction of the Guest speaker
Ms. Mansi Thakkar is an IT Engineer turned speaker who has transitioned into a Leadership Coach. She started Mansi Thakkar Training Systems LLP with her mother and grandmother’s support. She has a Master’s degree in Leadership Science from Chanakya International Institute of Leadership Studies. Ms. Mansi Thakkar was awarded Businessmint 30 Under 30 – 2022 for Inspiring Entrepreneur in Leadership. Currently, she serves as the Board of Director in Windplus Pvt Ltd and hosts the Chanakya unscripted podcast & Content Creator at Bigbrainco.

Leadership Qualities
Ms. Mansi Thakkar emphasized that the first quality of leadership is to think correctly and clearly. From such clarity comes good decision-making capacity, and sound decisions have an impact on everyone. She explained that leaders should practice thinking time, and real leaders are polymaths, which are people who know a lot about a lot of subjects.

She also highlighted various aspects of leadership, such as strategy vs. tactics, worst vs. best outcome, thinking from various perspectives, insight + foresight, and discussing before making decisions. Ms. Thakkar emphasized that leaders must think from multiple angles and consider both the best and worst outcomes before making a decision. Moreover, leaders should possess insight and foresight to anticipate future challenges and opportunities.

Socialized Charismatic leadership
Ms. Mansi Thakkar also explained the importance of socialized charismatic leadership, which is about being a “deeply caring person who can relate to people from the boardroom to the grin- line.” She emphasized that leaders should constantly invest in their communication skills and take care of their employees by listening to their needs. She also explained that leaders should stay updated in their field of business to inspire and motivate their employees and be inspired.

Discuss/Consult and then Execute
Ms. Thakkar explained that all undertakings should be preceded by consultation. She emphasized the importance of holding consultations with those who are matured in intellect. By doing so, leaders can make informed decisions that consider different perspectives and potential challenges.
