Reward for Hard Work – Convocation 2018 at ISBR

Years of dedication, countless hours of studying, endless nights spent putting together projects and presentations, and the day is finally here. This is when all of that preparation will pay off. This is when the future begins. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Congratulations to all graduating students of ISBR.

The Convocation Day (2016-2018 Batch) – ISBR Business School

The Convocation Day for the graduating students of 2016-2018 batch from ISBR Business School, Bengaluru was held on 17th November, 2018 at ISBR Business School campus. The Convocation Day had a plethora of feelings for everyone present there: the happy faces of the graduating students, the smiles on the parents’ faces, the accomplished hearts of the faculty, the aspiring minds of the course-pursuing batch students, the words of wisdom from the eminent Guests of Honour and the vibrant speech of Sri Manish Kothari (Managing Director, ISBR Group of Institutions).

Chief Guest

The Chief Guests for the event were Sri Basavaraj Horatti (Chairman, Karnataka Vidhan Parishad) , Mr.Gert Heijkoop (Consulate General of Netherlands, Bengaluru) and Mr. Guliano Bonato ( Chairman, The Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

The Convocation day began with a group pic of the graduating students of ISBR in the presence of the eminent Chief Guests, Sri Manish Kothari and the esteemed faculty of ISBR. The graduating students flung their academic caps with jubilation in the air.  It was their moment and they were happily embracing it with pride and joy.

Soon after the group pic, the Graduation Procession entered the auditorium. It was followed by an enchanting invocation song rendered by ISBR student Bodhayan Pal. The subsequent part was the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais.

The Welcome Address was given by Dr.Chandra Niranjan (Dean, Executive Education & Finishing School, ISBR). Dr. Niranjan addressed the audience by congratulating the graduating students and also throwing light on the significant achievements such as the launch of the prestigious TEDxISBRBangalore. Partnering of ISBR with TEDx is really a tremendous milestone and this credit goes to the graduating students of ISBR.

The Presentation of the Annual Report was given by Dr. C. Manohar, Dean of ISBR Business School. His words were energetic and he mentioned about the remarkable achievements of ISBR in the annual report such as the recognition of ISBR as a Platinum Ranking Institute for the third consecutive year by AICTE-CII(Confederation of Indian Industry) Survey and its consistent connect with prominent industry bodies such as ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) and FICCI(Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry). Dr.C.Manohar also mentioned about the establishment of ISBR Law College and the launch of the Sports Management Program under PGDM course.

Opening Ceremony

Sri Basavaraj Horatti declared the Convocation Ceremony open. The Senior Director Dr. K.S. Anandaram administered the oath to the graduating students.

This was followed by the address of the Chief Guest Mr.Gert Heijkoop. Mr. Gert Heijkoop congratulated the graduating students of ISBR and wished them good luck in their future endeavours. One of the keynote points in his address was that “The only thing that is constant in economics is change”. This point had a great significance as he predicted  that India and China would be the world’s biggest economies by the year 2050. He also drew a noteworthy comparison between the functioning of the Netherlands economy and the Indian economy.

Later, Sri Basavaraj Horatti addressed the graduating students with his inspirational oration on the importance of remembering parents at every stage of life. From being a school teacher in Hubli to winning the MLC(Member of Legislative Council) seven consecutive times to becoming the Chairman of Karnataka Vidhan Parishad was a noteworthy journey. He instilled the aspiring minds of the graduating students with his charismatic aura, highlighting the importance of parents’ roles in the students’ prosperity.

Next was the address by Mr. Guliano Bonato. He congratulated the graduating students of ISBR on their successful completion of the post-graduation program with flying colours.

This was followed by the Presidential address by Sri Manish Kothari. He articulated that “An educational institution is not about the bricks and mortar but it is about the faculty, students, parents and all the important stakeholders of an educational institution”.  He stressed upon the importance of giving back to society and made a reference to the point that nowadays Bill Gates is not popular for being one of the wealthiest persons in the world but Bill Gates is popular for his exceptional charity to the backward sections of the society through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

In another reference to Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Sri Manish Kothari mentioned that Kalam Sir gave importance to his subordinates at work and also touched upon the point that the graduating students should thank each and every person in their journey for helping successfully complete their post-graduation. He also drove the point home that “Yesterday is the past, tomorrow is the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it is called as present ”. It is no wonder that the leadership qualities displayed by Sri Manish Kothari are as exemplary as ever.

Gems of ISBR

Following it was the release of ISBR GEM. GEMS of ISBR  is a publication of ISBR that captures and highlights profiles of top students of ISBR each year. The GEMS of ISBR were felicitated by the honourable dignitaries on the dais. This was followed by awarding the gold medals for the graduating batch. Students were complimented with the gold medals for their outstanding achievements. Later, all the 140 students were conferred with their graduation certificates. Each one of them lived the happiest moment of their lives while receiving the convocation certificate in the presence of the dignitaries on the dais, the reputed faculty of ISBR, and their beloved parents.

The Conclusion to a Memorable Day

After this, the audience in the auditorium stood up for the national anthem. The Convocation Ceremony concluded with the Graduation Procession exiting the auditorium.
