Skill Capital 2018- An Internship Report

When you walk out to the market today, what is the most important aspect that acts as the key differentiator while you are a student?”Skills,” I say! While you are not exposed to the market and still afresh, the innate ability to stand apart comes from the skills that you have acquired till that particular time. Be it the oratory skills, the writing skills, negotiation skills, the presentation skills or for that reason any other “industry applicable skill” that speaks volumes about your personality, it always comes in handy.

The Darwinian Theory suggested that, “The mightiest have the right to survive, ” but today the industry declares otherwise. “The skilled ones have the right to survived For a student, specifically a management student, it becomes necessary to first introspect about a particular innate and acquired skill and then try and acquire that skill to make the maximum out of it.“SKILL CAPITAL — An Internship Fair – Where aspirations transpire into reality!”organized on 29th May and 30th May 2018 focused more on mapping the skills of students to industry requirements. Building on the success of the previous year and learning from the shortcomings, the student committee along with the placement department induced a base of 60 companies from the industry to map over 200 students. The companies that were on board this time included IBM, Myntra, Future Group, Microland, Ernst &Young, etc.Thefairwasorganized under the guidance of Mr. Amit Kanchanbaras, Mr.AbbasAIi, Directorofthe Placement Department and the student placement committee from among the junior and the senior batch.

The recruiters had come with a clear intent of picking up the students who show promise and competency for delivering for their respective organizations. The way in which the internship is looked upon today has changed radically with time. The companies have integrated the effort of hiring interns into the actual employee hiring process by offering a pre placement offer or a PPO to the deserving and suitable candidates. This not only reduces the intangible efforts of initial screening of the candidates but also reduces the burden of training them and saves both cost and time.

All in all the internship fair-“Skill Capital“, proved to be a huge success and created what might be termed as a benchmark for the next batches to come in the college and encourage them to aim higher and bigger in their pursuit of a worthy professional career.

“I came across this new concept called Skill Capital where initially we were thinking that it would be very difficult but with the support of all faculty members we have pulled an event to a next level with worth 70 plus companies on the campus itself. Till now 100 + students have been placed in internship. It was a very positive experience. The pressure was up to the next-level. What is the real thing and real world we got to learn due to this skill capital. It really gave us a glimpse of an organization and how it works. What does a pressure mean in terms of corporate and what are the targets, we got the taste of it. It was a very great working with this recruitment team and being a part of Skill Capital student team, I learnt a lots
