It began on April 20th, 2017, with a budget of Rs 1 crore and 17 lakh, provided by the Sansera Foundation. With the help of a senior citizen, B Muthuraman, aged 74, they covered almost 400 houses to spread awareness. The Kyalasanahalli Lake near Anekal was restored in only 45 days. Anand designed and executed the rehabilitation procedure with the help of nearby communities, including several techies from Electronic City. The Lake at first was a total disaster, all dried up and villagers were using it as a dumping ground, from that, they went on to create an oasis with merely three earthmovers and six trucks. Although, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of any industry experts, architects or engineers, and fellow citizens who along with Anand, a mechanical engineer, removed almost 4 lakh cubic meters of mud from the lake. Mr. Anand was also the man behind rejuvenating the Konasandra Lake which was worse than the foam-filled Bellandur Lake. With 42 more lakes to be saved, Anand has already planned his next strides at Gavi and Nanjapura Lakes, with a plan to transform the latter into one of the best’ wetlands in India.

NUKKAD
Nukkad is one of the oldest forms of storytelling in India, forgotten today except for a few villages. People gather around a tree to watch actors present a story through narration, music or drama. It is considered as the forefather of theatre in India. It brought together comedy and commentary on social issues. It is not being pursued anymore, either because it is forgotten or not appealing to the sophisticated crowd; due to its rustic and raw nature. It is not preachy but reflects societal issues as is, for example, body shaming faced by women. And now, Anshulika, Founder – Red Polka Production has bought this authentic art form back onto the streets of Bengaluru. She is a film and theatre actress; producer of theatre and films. She has been involved with multilingual theatre in India. Starting her journey of theatre in Delhi and Bombay, she moved to Bangalore and has been part of various theatre productions in Urdu, Hindi, English and Bengali. She has worked in women centric films which have been screened in both national and international film festivals. Prataya Saha, the Chief Creative Director of Red Polka Productions who lives in Bangalore has a unique independent theatre and film company in the city. He started off as an in house photographer at the Jagriti theatre in Bangalore back in 2014 before moving to London where he collaborated with some local artists. His work has been widely published in most National Newspapers including Times of India, The Hindu, Deccan Chronicle, Deccan Herald, The New Indian Express, The Economic Times, etc.
