Summary:
The public Viva Voce examination was held at ISBR Business School campus on 14th of November 2024. The thesis titled “Role of Microfinance Institutions in Promoting Financial Inclusion – A Study in Raichur, Bidar, and Chamrajnagar” was presented by the research scholar. The study focuses on how microfinance institutions (MFIs) play a transformative role in advancing financial inclusion in underserved areas of Karnataka, specifically Raichur, Bidar, and Chamrajnagar. The thesis serves as a valuable resource for understanding the mechanisms, challenges, and impacts of microfinance in promoting economic equity.
The study addresses a pressing issue in India, where a significant portion of the population lacks access to formal banking and financial services. Financial inclusion has been identified as a cornerstone for sustainable economic growth and poverty alleviation, and Dr. Kanchan’s research offers insights into how MFIs contribute to this goal. The specific focus on the districts of Raichur, Bidar, and Chamrajnagar, which have high levels of socio-economic disadvantage, highlights the unique needs of rural and semi-urban communities and the role MFIs play in supporting these regions. This research is crucial for policymakers, financial institutions, and non-governmental organizations working towards inclusive economic development.
